It's entertaining, if you have nothing to do and want to read something, it's a good option。 Has great references, it made me want to watch a couple of 80's movies I haven't seen yet。 But overall, it's not as good as the first one, there were moments where I felt that the story was a bit forced。 And I didn't really like the ending。 But other than that I think it's ok。 It's entertaining, if you have nothing to do and want to read something, it's a good option。 Has great references, it made me want to watch a couple of 80's movies I haven't seen yet。 But overall, it's not as good as the first one, there were moments where I felt that the story was a bit forced。 And I didn't really like the ending。 But other than that I think it's ok。 。。。more

I really liked this book until the ending。 Ugh。 I have hope that Spielberg will make the sequel but change the ending to something less cheesy and ridiculously “happily ever after”。 I also can’t wait to see John Hughes world or the Prince world, but again, the ending has to go。 Barf。

So heavy on the 80’s references that lost me at times but still an enjoyable read。

This is the Ready Player One of Ready Player One books。

This book was incredibly awesome and just as good as the original。 The villain in this book was what you least expected。

I have mixed feelings about this book and the series as a whole。 I like the initial concept where the whole world is basically caught up in a enormous video game but the same issues I had in the first book bled into this one but worse。 I think this author is very wordy。 He spends SO much time building his world that it takes away from the story。 This book wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t amazing。 Don’t know if there was a need for a sequel honestly。

I liked the book, but didn't love it。 My favorite section was the John Hughes section。 Enjoyed reminiscing and learning a little bit of trivia。 I think the Prince sequence was a little hard to follow and not flushed out enough。 An interesting ending with an interesting concept of AI and its potentials for humankind。 A solid follow up with with all of your favorite characters。 I liked the book, but didn't love it。 My favorite section was the John Hughes section。 Enjoyed reminiscing and learning a little bit of trivia。 I think the Prince sequence was a little hard to follow and not flushed out enough。 An interesting ending with an interesting concept of AI and its potentials for humankind。 A solid follow up with with all of your favorite characters。 。。。more

Read “Level Four”, skip the entire middle and read “Level Five” and you may sorta enjoy this book。 It’s still better than Harry Turtledove so, there’s that。

I don't know if it was the amount of time between installments or something else, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last one。 Truthfully, I don't know why。 I feel like this was a more complete story, the characters were more well round and less one dimensional。 There was more inclusion and I felt like it was a better representation of real life, as silly as that sounds。 There were much stronger story threads。 There was just as much nerdy fun, though admittedly I felt like the Prince se I don't know if it was the amount of time between installments or something else, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last one。 Truthfully, I don't know why。 I feel like this was a more complete story, the characters were more well round and less one dimensional。 There was more inclusion and I felt like it was a better representation of real life, as silly as that sounds。 There were much stronger story threads。 There was just as much nerdy fun, though admittedly I felt like the Prince section was WAY over the top。 So why did I like the other book better? Okay I might be in the minority here but this was just as fun to me as the first book! Loved seeing what the characters are up to and honestly I found where they ended up pretty believable。 A sequel that doesn't totally ruin the original is the most you can ask for sometimes, and this succeeded。 Okay I might be in the minority here but this was just as fun to me as the first book! Ok for sure RPO is the best。 The unknown nostalgia that was discovered throughout was unbeatable。 This read very similarly。 Your instantly sucked into the Oasis and have to know how will Wade succeed from the give obstacles?! Quick read。 Very satisfied with the ending。

Quick read, enjoyable if not scrutinizing the plot holes too much。

This book was like a bad movie sequel, where the original actors were replaced by low budget replicas。 It was cumbersome, plodding along, making me want to scream。 The lack of plot was hidden by a bursting dam of 80’s references that were 100 times more obscure than the first book。 To make matters worse, the author constantly beat you over the head with identity politics with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer。 I loved the first book。 It was nostalgic, that had memories for everyone , even thoug This book was like a bad movie sequel, where the original actors were replaced by low budget replicas。 It was cumbersome, plodding along, making me want to scream。 The lack of plot was hidden by a bursting dam of 80’s references that were 100 times more obscure than the first book。 To make matters worse, the author constantly beat you over the head with identity politics with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer。 I loved the first book。 It was nostalgic, that had memories for everyone , even though some references were only for the ultra gamer。 This was cashing in on its success, not a story that needed to be told。 。。。more

Pretty good for mindless entertainment。 I’m not geeky enough to appreciate video games or some of the nostalgia in this book, but it kept me entertained。

The first 25% is VERY slow and makes you wonder if book one was a fluke。 If you can make it that far though, it picks up significantly and is an excellent book。 Highly recommend the audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton!

An absolutely incredible story that delivers on all promises for what we hope to see from a sequel。 There seemed to be a few instances of virtue signaling in the book that left a bad taste in my mouth but, the ending made up for it and then some。 Such a great ending to a fantastic book and sequel。 Once I got close to the end, I just couldn’t put the book down。 Thank you Ernest Cline for this great book。 I thoroughly enjoyed it。

I really enjoyed "Ready Player One" so it hurts me to say that this book is unforgivably terrible。 Riddled with editorial errors, inconsistencies, and just plain old bad writing, it was clearly written because The Powers That Be knew it would make money。Game over, dude。 Do not continue。 I really enjoyed "Ready Player One" so it hurts me to say that this book is unforgivably terrible。 Riddled with editorial errors, inconsistencies, and just plain old bad writing, it was clearly written because The Powers That Be knew it would make money。Game over, dude。 Do not continue。 。。。more

The blurb was vague enough on this one that I was unsure about it at first, but I took the plunge anyway。 The beginning was almost unbearably slow, but once the meat of the story got going, I was in it to win it。 Wil Wheaton remains a great narrator despite being burdened with some clunky action scenes。 I loved some of this volume's 80's pop culture references, and others flew right over my head。 This was definitely worth the listen even though it won't go down as one of my favorites。 The blurb was vague enough on this one that I was unsure about it at first, but I took the plunge anyway。 The beginning was almost unbearably slow, but once the meat of the story got going, I was in it to win it。 Wil Wheaton remains a great narrator despite being burdened with some clunky action scenes。 I loved some of this volume's 80's pop culture references, and others flew right over my head。 This was definitely worth the listen even though it won't go down as one of my favorites。 。。。more

While I did enjoy reading Ready Player Two I couldn't get over two things:1。 It's basically the same plot as Ready Player One, except with a shorter timeline (a day instead of a year)。 There are differences - mostly the concept of technology being directly attached to brains and more details about Kira - but maybe not enough to account for an entire second book。2。 Wade has been painted as a jerk with no friends (which kind of sucks since we left him at the end of Ready Player One with both frien While I did enjoy reading Ready Player Two I couldn't get over two things:1。 It's basically the same plot as Ready Player One, except with a shorter timeline (a day instead of a year)。 There are differences - mostly the concept of technology being directly attached to brains and more details about Kira - but maybe not enough to account for an entire second book。2。 Wade has been painted as a jerk with no friends (which kind of sucks since we left him at the end of Ready Player One with both friends and a GF), but then as soon as he starts his quest he has all of his friends and his love interest back。。。 Aside from those two glaring issues, I thought it was a lot of fun - especially the John Hughes challenge。 There's a section for everyone, or at least something for Prince fans, Hughes fans, LOTR fans, and obviously video game fans。 Things come together a bit too perfectly, to the point where it was harder to get invested because I was so certain of the outcome。。。so I skimmed quite a bit when he was in a challenge that didn't totally float my boat (looking at you LOTR)。 。。。more

DNFI wanted to like this book, as I finished the first one and enjoyed it despite all it's flaws (and there were A LOT)。 Unfortunately, I feel like I can only give it a pass once on being a poor rendition of charlie and the chocolate factory by way of big bang theory。 It feels like every paragraph is (insert pop culture reference) followed by (overly explain what the pop culture reference is)。 Remove those and youre left with almost nothing。 Rarely do I not finish a book, but I couldn't stand th DNFI wanted to like this book, as I finished the first one and enjoyed it despite all it's flaws (and there were A LOT)。 Unfortunately, I feel like I can only give it a pass once on being a poor rendition of charlie and the chocolate factory by way of big bang theory。 It feels like every paragraph is (insert pop culture reference) followed by (overly explain what the pop culture reference is)。 Remove those and youre left with almost nothing。 Rarely do I not finish a book, but I couldn't stand this after 75 pages, with really no major plot movement in that time。Unless you are a fan of overtly, in your face and over explained nerdy and cultural references ad naseum, skip it to ingest some of the actual great pop culture it reveres instead。 。。。more

The beginning is a bit clunky and provides lots of information that readers of the first novel do not necessarily need。 By the middle of the book things pick up, and from there the story gets interesting with lots of fun adventures, eighties nostalgia and plot twists。 If you’re a fan of the 80’s and of the first book you’ll like where this book eventually goes。

The adventure was interesting but taken right out of stuff like Sword Art Online and The Matrix (don’t worry, the book knows what it’s ripping off, it says the situation the characters are in are just like these)。 The plus side is the story doesn’t seems as gatekeepy of films, TV, music etc, as the previous story but it still tends to pad itself out with several details that don’t really need explaining and are just there to drop yet another pop culture reference into the story。 Also once you no The adventure was interesting but taken right out of stuff like Sword Art Online and The Matrix (don’t worry, the book knows what it’s ripping off, it says the situation the characters are in are just like these)。 The plus side is the story doesn’t seems as gatekeepy of films, TV, music etc, as the previous story but it still tends to pad itself out with several details that don’t really need explaining and are just there to drop yet another pop culture reference into the story。 Also once you notice how often the word ‘And’ is used in lists you won’t be able to ignore it。 If the story was just the adventure it would be fine but the ending raises some rather questionable ethical decisions about the technology involved in the story so that brought it down to a three star rating for me。 。。。more
